Meet David Downing

I’m David Downing, a sell-side M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) advisor with Eminence M&A Strategies and former founder who’s navigated the startup grind, the scaling pains, and the moment you realize it’s time to sell.
My background is in finance, accounting, and operations, with experience at firms like Southwest Airlines, Alvarez & Marsal, and KPMG. But the real turning point came when I started, scaled, and sold my own consumer packaged goods (CPG) company: a healthy cookie brand (ChipMonk Baking) that taught me more about grit, risk, and identity than any spreadsheet ever could.

That lived experience drives everything I do today. Whether I’m helping a first-time buyer evaluate a deal or working with a business owner to prepare for a successful exit, my goal is always the same: clarity, confidence, and a fair deal for everyone involved.
I’ve worked with Main Street and mid-market businesses across Texas, from pet grooming shops to logistics firms. And I’ve seen firsthand that the best outcomes don’t come from pressure or hype. They come from honest conversations, strategic prep, and a human-centered approach.
